I ran across a great alternative for disposing of our household trash, using oxo-biodegradable bags, because we don't compost. From what I have read, during the manufacturing process, an oxo-bioodegradable additive is used. This additive is blended into the plastic during the extrusion process, so, it is less harmful for the environment. They're said to break down within 2 years time, which cannot be said about all plastics! I particularly like the brand EconoGreen from Jig-A-Loo. Their new line of plastic bags are made from 100% recycled plastic, are 100% oxodegradable and 100% recyclable. But Publix, Target, and Wal-Mart employees look at me funny when I say I have my own bags. I just want to ask “Why are you looking at me like I am crazy? Your store SELLS them!!” My favorite part is when I bought a resuable green bag @ Publix and they put it in a plastic bag, needless to say, I was confused….if they only read your blog!
